Palisades Park offers multiple commute options to Manhattan. The most popular: take the NJ Transit bus from Bergen Blvd directly to the GWB Bus Station, then transfer to the subway for Midtown. Driving to the GWB takes just 5–10 minutes off-peak, and the Palisades Interstate Parkway provides a fast route south.

Route 166 Detour in Leonia; GWB Closures Continue

NJ Transit has detoured Route 166 buses between Route 4 and Grand Avenue in Leonia due to road work; buses to the Port Authority Bus Terminal run via Route 4, Grand Avenue, Fort Lee Road, and Broad Avenue, while Route 165 shows no advisory. The northbound Center Avenue bridge over the GWB approach stays under long-term closure, with the right lane and sidewalk closed since January 12 and the closures extended through at least December 2026. Two travel lanes stay open with detours, and the replacement south sidewalk targets completion by the end of 2026. Buses continue replacing Port Jervis Line trains.

Broad Ave: Late-Night Growth, New Closures

Cafe Ssum & Karaoke (450 Broad Ave) remains open to 2:00 AM with private karaoke rooms. Crazy Pocha (42 Broad Ave, second floor) is the corridor's newer late-night pocha bar, and Dipped 'n' Smashed is coming soon to 187 Main St in Fort Lee at Hudson Lights. Lee & Bai Buns (442 Broad Ave) and D'avant Bakery (449 Broad Ave) remain among the newer additions. Closings: Yelp now flags Bleu on Broad (330 Broad Ave, updated Aug 2026), joining You Chun, Yechun, and Picnic Cafe flagged this September. Fort Lee Restaurant Week runs through Sept 27.

Daewoo $291M Tower Moving Forward

Daewoo Engineering & Construction and the Tamares Group are the joint venture behind the roughly $291 million, 18-story, 540-unit complex with ground-floor retail and parking at 121-131 West Ruby Avenue and 20-40 Fairview Street. The land closing was expected this past July, with construction targeted for 2028-2031 and completion in 2031. The Grandline, a 510-unit mixed-use at 21 Grand Avenue, also has site-plan approval.

Free evening meter parking runs through Sep 30 (free after 6 PM Mon-Sat), and the online Resident Parking Permit portal is live. Fall recreation is running now: tennis camp started Sept 16, the fall yoga series starts Sept 19 (8:00 AM, high school gym), and the basketball camp starts Sept 22. The 5th Annual Street Festival is Oct 3, 11 AM to 6 PM at 275 Broad Ave.

Bergen County single-family median sold at ~$949,500 (up 8.5% YoY), about 26 days on market, per the Sept 5 Market Pulse. Bergen condo and townhome median sold ~$540,000 with 40 days on market, and countywide condo inventory of 636 is up about 24.7% from a year ago (roughly 3.5 months supply). FRED puts the Bergen County median listing price at $796,500 for July. The US 30 year fixed mortgage average was 6.76% for the week of Sept 14 (Freddie Mac), up from 6.71%. Light Rail Advocacy Push Continues

Advocates are petitioning for 10-minute frequency on the planned Hudson-Bergen Light Rail extension through Bergen County. The Northern Branch Corridor project would add seven stations including Palisades Park. NJ Transit issued an RFP for environmental review consultants in Nov 2025, restarting the EIS process. Estimated cost: around $2 billion, with no construction timeline confirmed.
